We are considering different ways to make large print labels easily accessible for visitors in the galleries.

Have you seen any examples of large print labels you would recommend?

What characteristics of the design and/or presentation did you appreciate?

    Thank you for your time!

    Hi,

It is really wonderful to hear that you want to include Large Print Labels in your space.

I would suggest having the large print labels available as a printout within the gallery/space where the exhibit is. I've seen this done in a notebook that lives in an acrylic holder on the wall, or or laminated pages bound by a single ring that are on hooks in various corners of the space. Please make sure that you follow guidelines for what large print is (I use Smithsonian Guidelines for Accessible Design (revised version) and NPS Guidelines for Accessible Interpretive Media). Also, make sure you publicize that you have the large print available - both externally and within the museum - so that the audience you are trying to reach knows about it and will use it.

You might also try asking a few of your potential users how they would like to have the labels - it's always good to ask and test versus making an assumption about what someone might want or what would work best in your space.

Happy to chat more with you about accessibility if you would like to.
