Description: When the next generation of museum-goers becomes young adults, how is your institution appealing to their needs and interests within museums? Let's discuss the hot topics for young adults in museums: paid internships, engaging programming, access to resources, and ensuring space for them in your institution. Sierra Van Ryck deGroot will unpack current issues around these topics facing many museums in the field, debunk myths, offer resources, and answer your questions during this hour-long lunchtime chat. Bring your lunch and join us!
Bio: Sierra Van Ryck deGroot is a museum educator from Red Bank, NJ. She has a Masters of Science in Education in Museum Education with a specialization in Childhood Education from Bank Street College of Education. Before Bank Street, she earned her BA in Graphic Design, Fine Art, and Art History from Seton Hall University. She currently works at Poster House as the Assistant Director of Education, where she leads the internship program, facilitates the family and teen programming at the museum, and more. When she isn’t at Poster House, Sierra is serving on the National Emerging Museum Professionals Network board as the Co-President. Outside of the world of museums, Sierra enjoys traveling, eating great food, and hiking with her partner Raul.
